Mom's Favorite Corn Bread

 | 1 C. cornmeal
 | 1 C. flour
 | 2 T. sugar
 | 1 T. baking powder
 | 1 tsp. salt
 | 1/3 C. oil
 | 1 egg
 | 1 C. milk

Measure milk and put in a bowl. Add egg, oil and sugar. Beat. Sift flour, baking powder, salt. Stir into milk mixture and add cornmeal. Mix well.
Pour into baking pan and bake at 400 degrees F. for 25 minutes.
It's excellent to serve with beans. The two combined make a complete protein. My children especially like it with hot chocolate for breakfast.
