Whole Wheat Oatmeal Cake

Mix
bullet1 1/4 cup boiling water
bullet1/4 cup margarine or butter
bullet1 cup oatmeal
Set aside to soak

Cream together:
bullet1 cup brown sugar
bullet1 cup sugar
bullet2 eggs (or equivalent powdered eggs and water)
Add the cooled oatmeal mixture plus:
bullet1 1/3 cup whole wheat flour
bullet1 teaspoon baking soda
bullet1 teaspoon cinnamon
bullet1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
bullet1/2 teaspoon salt
Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. While it is baking, Mix the topping:
bullet1 cup chopped nuts
bullet1 cup coconut
bullet1/2 cup sugar
bullet1 teaspoon vanilla
bullet1/4 cup margarine or butter
bullet1/4 cup canned milk
Spread mixture over the still hot cake and broil until brown.
