A Flax Milk Shake for Diabetics
By Carol Eastep
I am a diabetic and need a snack before I go to bed to
keep my sugar level up while I sleep. I make a fruit/flax milkshake like the one following...
Ingredients:
- 1 cup milk (I use 1%)
- 2/3 cup frozen blueberries (or whatever fruit you like)
- 4 pkt Sweet n Low (Stevia can be used instead.)
- 3 Tablespoons flax ground into meal
- 1/4 tsp dry ginger
- 1/2 tsp dry ground dandilion root
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 3 eyedroppersful gymnema sylvestra extract
- 1 Tablespoon unflavored gelatin
- 2 tsp. vanilla
Blend all ingredients until smooth. It will be thick and you'll probably need a spoon.
PS: The blueberries are for my eyesight. They keep the retina
healthy. The herbs are to combat the effects of the diabetes. They
spice up the drink and keep me healthy in the bargain.
