Subject: What proportions of Grain

About to make my first bulk grain order and wondering if it should be all wheat or should I mix the grains, such as wheat, corn, beans, rice, etc.? This is my first and most basic purchase and may just have to hold me over.

Vicki Tate has written a really excellent article on this very subject called The Seven Major Sins Of Food Storage. One of the key ingredients of a successful food storage program is plenty of variety. The more diversified you can make your food storage program the better. But be sure you have a plan and that you can wisely use the different things you put away. Diversification without the help of a wise usage plan could really backfire on you when you need it most.

Vicki will also tell you to get your basics first then when you have what it takes to survive, go to work on all of those nice little extras.
