I want to reiterate something one more time. I think you need to do this for more than one person. I think you look at your situation with your neighbors in a community or your church. I think all churches ought to be storing up a food system like this. They won't do it, but they ought to be doing it. As more and more of them figure out that they ought to be doing it, it is going to become more and more expensive, and more and more difficult to do it, which is why, basically, on this one people have been forewarned. And this is one of those mild phrases: "Procrastination Kills." But in some cases that's literal. And I don't think people should wait. If people want to contact you and they have heard this tape, understand the basics, and want to get started, do you talk to them personally, or who should they contact?
Portela: Gary, in the office here, we have eight people and a bank of phones. We send out a price list. Let me give your listeners a different 800 number than the one you gave them. Our 800 number here at the office is 1-800-847- 8465, and that rings on several phones. We also have our local number and it is the same number but you dial 1-208- 847-0465. If the 800 lines are busy, you can normally get through on the non-800 number. Our Fax number is 1-208-847-0467. Our address is...

North: I appreciate your time. I think it is an important topic, and I think it's going to get a lot more important over the next three years. And when it is really important, you won't be able to do a thing about it. So, realistically speaking, you better do it when you don't think it's important, because when you think it is important it's too late. With food supplies as stretched out as they are, I really think this is the situation.
Portela: There is no doubt. That is what 1996 has shown us. Right now, things are a little bit calm. The 1996 harvest was better than anticipated. The mass media have quit blowing their horns about the food shortage of 96 that never materialized. But this could just be temporary. It is better to be prepared a day or several years too early than a day late.
North: Thanks for the time, Steve.
Portela: Thank you very much, Gary.

Then there is Firestorm Chats. You have been reading a transcript of a Firestorm Chats interview. Firestorm Chats is Dr. Gary North's monthly fact-finding interview service on audio cassette in which he releases many subjects or strategies which are often too controversial to release in print. Firestorm Chats offers something unique and very important that can not be presented effectively in the pages of a newsletter. With Firestorm Chats you will not only hear Dr. North's resulting conclusions but you will hear how he gets there as well. Actually being involved in the discovery or inquiry process is most valuable to you as an investor. In the long run, the `how' is more important to you than the 'what' and 'why.'
As an economist, historian, and former professor, Dr. North knows that teaching involves how to think about a subject as well as what to think. With Firestorm Chats, you can see the kinds of questions you should ask as a prudent investor. If you are someone who wants to look behind the slanted dribble fed to us by the liberal media, Firestorm Chats is indispensable.
To receive a one-year subscription to Firestorm Chats, send $98.00 with your name, address and telephone number to Firestorm Chats, P.O. 1014, Colleyville, TX 76034. If you prefer, call 1-800-552-3438 with your credit card or `bill me' order. Firestorm Chats is an extremely important resource for Americans who want to think through the opportunities and the pitfalls that we face.
